The Joie Roomie Glide
The Joie Roomie Glide is a bedside crib that allows parents to co-sleep with their newborn whilst ensuring they're sleeping safely. Its smooth gliding motion helps to soothe your baby to sleep. Its innovative features let you monitor them without having to leave your own bed.
The side panel that slides out of the cot can be raised and lowered with a simple push of a single button. This makes it easy to reach inside and soothe a crying baby at night. It also comes with 11 height adjustments that let it fit on the mattress of almost every size bed. Additionally, it includes adjustable folding feet to make sure that it sits at just the right level.
The cot is padded, has mesh sides to increase ventilation, and its mattress is made from high-density foam to provide extra protection. It is also wipeable which means you can keep the crib clean. It is fitted with a mattress sheet that can be used for the crib.
The Roomie Glide, unlike some other cribs for bed, is compatible with a wide range of beds, including divans. This is because of the clips and straps that connect it. It can be used as a stand-alone crib when it is not connected to the bed. It is packed with amazing features that were designed with baby and parent bonding in mind.
One thing to bear in mind is that even though this crib is great for newborns, it won't last long after your little one turns six months old, which means you will need to invest in larger cots. However, overall Roanna found that the Joie Roomie Glide was a very good purchase and she was particularly impressed by its elegant design.
The Roomie Glide is available to purchase at John Lewis for PS160, which Roanna thought was a reasonable price for a cot featuring the most innovative features. She also liked the way it looked in the bedroom and thought that its grey colour is a good fit for modern homes. However, she pointed that it's not a great idea to rock a young baby as it could set a bad habit for later sleep patterns.
The Tutti Bambini CoZee
The Tutti Bambini CoZee is an award-winning crib for bed designed to ensure a peaceful night's sleep in mind. It comes with a drop-side rail that can be easily adjusted to feed your child in the evening without disturbing them or forcing them out of the bed. This is ideal for breastfeeding mothers! It is also lightweight and easy to move around during nap time or when traveling.
It's made from soft materials and has mesh sides that are breathable to help promote airflow. It is available in charcoal or oak with various melange fabrics that will blend with all styles of decor. bedside baby sleeper found it to be sturdy and secure once attached to her bed. The legs clicked into place and the zippers were secured to ensure security. It took Anna approximately 10 minutes to put together and didn't require any tools. There are clear instructions, a video and a customer service number should you experience any issues.
As well as the usual features you'd expect from a crib for your bed, like being able to connect to your bed using a stay-in-place connection system and six levels of height, the CoZee has an additional incline option which can be used to ease reflux or congestion in babies. It's also machine-washable, which is a essential feature with all the dribble, vomit and snot that come with having a baby!
The CoZee is an excellent choice for keeping your child in the first six months of learning to fall asleep independently. It can be used as a crib, changing station or toddler bed. It can even be converted into a sofa bed with the addition of an extension pack. Although it can't magically make your baby sleep or feed them, it can rock the baby and take them to school.
The Chicco Next2Me Magic
This is one of the more expensive options, but it is packed with lots of features. It can be used either a side-sleeper, or a standalone crib and is suitable for infants ranging from birth to six months. It has a new mechanism to open and close the side panel. It's easy to operate even with one hand. It's also more adjustable than its predecessor, with 11 different height levels and retractable feet for a secure place under any bed.
Our testers loved the easy access the side panel provides that can be flipped up and down with just one push of a button. This was an enormous help during feeding times at night, as it meant they could easily reach in and pick up their baby without waking them.

It is possible to lower the side panel itself, but this isn't recommended since it increases the likelihood that your baby will get out of the cot. The safety locking system ensures that the side panel will remain in place when it is attached correctly to the parent's mattress. This is an excellent feature to have for peace of mind, especially if you're breastfeeding and require frequent night feeds.
Telescopic legs allow the Chicco Next2Me Magic to be used with any bed including divan bases or beds with drawers. It also has an option to tilt for babies with reflux and a rocking mode to help them sleep after feeding. It is also very spacious and has excellent ventilation thanks to its mesh sides.
The Next2Me Magic was easy to use and set up for our testers, even with the lengthy instruction manual. It's heavier than some of the other side-sleepers, however it's quite mobile and can be moved from room room with ease. It's small enough to fit into its travel bag when not in use which is a bonus in the event that you have to transport it. The only drawback our test subjects found was that the side panel did not flex like some of the other models, making it a little harder to see your baby from your own bed.
The Shnuggle Air
If you're in search of an ideal bedside crib that can expand with your child then the Shnuggle Air is definitely worth considering. Designed to be a co-sleeping bassinet that will attach securely to your bed and convert into a chic cot when your baby is ready. It's perfect for night-time feeds and for strengthening your bond with your baby.
Contrary to other cribs for bed, the Shnuggle Air is built with breathability in mind. Its dual-view mesh sides and breathable, hypo-allergenic airflow mattress maximize airflow to keep your baby cool and comfortable. The gentle slope helps ease reflux and colic. The zipper-down side lets you to feed your baby, or even comfort them at night.
The cot conversion kit (sold separately) is also well-designed, with clear instructions and everything you need to start. It took us around an hour to construct and was surprisingly simple. The only issue with the instructions was that certain images were not captioned. This made it difficult for us to follow. Overall, the process was easy and the materials used were of high quality.
The Shnuggle Air is a great choice for women who are breastfeeding or have had C-sections. It lets them reach out and touch their baby for comfort and feeding without having to leave their bed. It's a great option for parents who don't want the hassle of putting their baby in a traditional cot or getting them out of it.
In our tests we noticed the smooth motion of this next to me crib to be especially beneficial in helping babies fall asleep after midday and nighttime feeds. The drop-down sides make it easy to feed or soothe babies during the night. This was a big selling point for our tired test mums. The Joie Roomie Glide is a modern and stylish crib that doesn't rock nor has extra features like the sound machine.
